Bird Proofing
With all properties, the potential damage from roosting birds has to be considered. It is not just the mess, inconvenience or health hazard, but also the corrosive damage that can occur, particularly on limestone buildings. Additionally, if anyone is injured as a result of bird fouling from your property, you are liable - so it pays to prevent.
Fouling of buildings and monuments frequently occurs at places where the birds nest or roost, this is not only unsightly, but can also have a destructive effect as the acidic droppings can erode the surface of stonework. Gutters and drainpipes can get blocked, leading to flooding and other problems.
Even in domestic buildings birds are a problem - not just for noise and mess, but from secondary nest infestation or mites. We are experts in bird proofing and deterrents, we can install a complete range of proofing products to suit any application.
We will carry out a free site survey to determine the areas to be proofed and the most effective types of product to be used. Areas that are heavily used by birds for nesting and roosting are usually netted as birds can be very persistent in gaining access to these areas especially if these area are sheltered. We use 100mm, 50mm, 30mm or 19mm netting depending on the size of the the birds to be proofed. All our nets are knotless, polypropylene, uv-stabilised, lightweight and strong. They are all available in black, white, stone and translucent to match any background and are flame retardant. We use anti perch spikes to prevent all birds from perching on gutters and ledges these come in different sizes to suit individual needs.On chimneys, window sills and wide ledges tensioned wires are used which consists of a variety of fixings (posts, split pins, gutter clamps) which hold in place wire crimped and tensioned using a series of springs. These are very effective because birds cant land on the wires because of there unstable nature cause by the springs.
